Plate processing with the WEBER MK | Grinding | Brushing | Rounding | Flame cutting

The WEBER MK is designed for processing large, heavy, and warped plates and sheet metal parts. With up to four processing stations and a robust machine design, it provides a reliable solution for demanding heavy-plate applications.

The WEBER stud grinding beam is designed for efficient grinding of heavy plates, while the planetary head and multi-rotation brush systems can be used for edge breaking and radius-like edge rounding. The modular configuration allows the machine to be adapted to individual processing requirements.

WEBER processing systems

The WEBER STC stud grinding beam combines the advantages of a sanding beam with the performance of a contact roller in a single processing station. It is specifically designed for processing thick and uneven plates while maintaining consistent sanding quality and high material throughput.

Hardened studs press the sanding belt down by a few millimeters, creating a controlled preload that automatically compensates for thickness variations between workpieces. This enables efficient multi-part processing across the entire working width while extending sanding belt life and helping to reduce operating costs.

Technical Specifications:
+ Drive up to 30kW + Cutting speed of approx. 3 - 16m/sec
+ Contact roller Ø130mm (ø175mm) rubbercoated, 60° Shore
+ Adjustment accuracy 0,1mm
+ Tolerance compensation up to +/-3mm for workpiece thickness / part distortion

Features:
+ Electromechanical roller adjustment and positioning
+ Pressure hose with manual pressure regulator for adjusting the required grinding pressure

The patented WEBER P2 planetary head provides an efficient solution for uniform edge rounding of inner and outer contours. Its single-row design features a large overlap between the individual tools, eliminating the need for additional oscillating movement and ensuring continuous processing without gaps.

The sealed planetary heads are designed for high wear resistance and low-maintenance operation. The brushes continuously work at an optimal angle to the workpiece, delivering efficient and consistent edge rounding across the entire working width.

Technical specifications:
+ Drive up to 5,2kW
+ Speed frequency-controlled 850 - 1700U/min
+ Electrical height adjustment and positioning

Features:
+ Number of units adjusted to the working width, each with 2 tools
+ Working from below starting at approx. 450mm part length possible
+ Profile grinding disc with quick-change system
+ Side extension for easy tool change

Slag from oxy-fuel and plasma-cut parts should be removed before the deburring process. Effective slag removal ensures reliable downstream processing, consistent results, and reduced tool wear and energy consumption.

The patented single-row, intermeshing WEBER planetary head system with slag hammers removes slag efficiently without requiring additional oscillating movement. The slag hammers always work at a 90° angle to the cutting edge, maximizing their impact and ensuring reliable slag removal.

Technical Specifications:
+ Drive up to 5,4kW
+ Speed frequency-controlled 300 - 1280U/min
+ Electrical height adjustment and positioning

Features:
+ Number of units adjusted to the working width, each with 2 tools
+ Tools with screwed tool holder
+ Side extension for easy tool change

As an alternative to the compact P2 design, WEBER offers the P6 with a double-row arrangement, with six brushes mounted on each tool carrier. Its electric adjustment system enables quick and precise positioning for accurate processing.

The unit can be activated, deactivated, positioned, and readjusted during operation via the machine control system, providing maximum flexibility and consistent processing results.

Technical specifications:
+ Drive per unit up to 2,2kW
+ Disc station with electric height adjustment and positioning

Features:
+ Number of units adjusted to the working width, each with 6 tools
+ Tools with quick-change system
+ Side extension for easy tool change

For uniform all-around edge rounding on all inner and outer edges, multiple rotating heads are arranged side by side. The intermeshing of the brushes, with two brushes per head, ensures consistent processing results across the entire width. Due to the compact design, the brush head can be easily combined with other WEBER grinding technologies. The multirotation brush is ideal for processing coated materials, such as foil-coated sheets or galvanized sheets, where the coating must not be worn off or damaged.

Technical Specifications:
+ Drive 2,6kW per unit
+ Speed frequency-controlled 30-150U/min
+ Cutting speed frequency-controlled 5-20m/sec
+ Electrical height adjustment and positioning

Features:
+ Grinding-brushing station with multiple horizontal rotating units
+ Each with 2 vertical rotating brushes
+ Flap brushes are quick-changeable
+ Side extension for easy tool change

The WEBER brush unit enables the use of special abrasives that aren’t available as abrasive belts. The brushes treat the surface and, in part, the edges. The oscillating brush system is adjustable and is used primarily for longitudinal sanding. The brush rollers improve surface quality, alter surface roughness depth, or modify the surface structure.

Technical Data:
+Drive power up to 37 kW
+ Cutting speed 5–18 m/s
+ Display accuracy 0.1

Features:
+ Adjustable oscillation

The WEBER brushing unit enables the use of specialized abrasives that are not available as conventional sanding belts. The brush rollers process the surface and, depending on the application, the edges as well.

The adjustable oscillating brushing system is primarily designed for longitudinal sanding. The brush rollers improve surface quality, modify surface roughness, and create or refine specific surface structures.

The WEBER cross-belt unit is designed to process workpieces with distortion of up to 10 mm. It uses only half the width of the cross belt for sanding, keeping the leading edge of the belt above incoming workpieces.

This design enables multi-track loading of parts with significant thickness variations or distortion while preventing the belt edge from catching on the workpieces. The machine control automatically prompts the operator at defined intervals to rotate the sanding belt and use the other half, ensuring efficient and even belt utilization.

Technical Specifications:
+ Drive 13kW
+ Cutting-speed up to 20m/sec

Features:
+ Part distortion up to 10mm
+ Processing only in the edge area
+ Only available in the MK series
